"OUT OF THE BOX" HOSTS SELECTED FOR MRS. GLOBE
(California, USA) The Mrs. Globe organization has announced their hosts for the Mrs. Globe 2006. Former Mrs. Globe, Tracy Kemble and NFL Player (Buffalo Bills) Jon Dorenbos will lead the audience through the charitable evening in search of the new Ms. U.S. and Mrs. Globe.
On the outside, the powerhouse life of an NFL Player and the elegance of Mrs. Globe seem to have little in common. That is until, you look a little deeper and realize their winning connection.
Tracy Kemble, founder of WIN and author of "The Courage to Say No More" has a passion to heal those faced with abuse. Jon Dorenbos, the 6 foot, 250 pound NFL Center knows the buckling pain of domestic abuse.
In 1993, at 12 years old, Jon's father was convicted of second degree murder, of his mother. What ensued was a young boy put in foster homes, until he was saved by his aunt and uncle, Susan and Steve Hindman, who won custody and eventually were able to legally adopt him.
The fact that Jon was able to somehow land on his feet and salvage his life after such a heinous event is admirable, let alone going onto becoming an NFL Player and class act Magician, a skill he developed while in therapy as a child.
"It became, in a very real way, my escape," Dorenbos said. "I had to find something that got my mind off what had happened. Once I got into it a little, and found out I liked it, then it became a passion for me."
His trademark stunt is one in which he lights himself on fire -- something he does not, of course, recommend even for some practiced illusionists.
Says Jon, "I know first hand the importance of raising awareness and funds for the issue of Domestic Abuse. It is with pleasure that I donate my time and talent to this winning cause."
