Local Dentist Norman Huefner, DMD Wins Gold Medal in the 12th Annual AACD Smile Gallery Competition

June 2, 2006 Madison, WI - Norman Huefner, DMD of Laguna Niguel, CA has won a gold medal for his entry in the 12th Annual American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) Smile Gallery competition, sponsored by Americus Dental Labs, Inc. The Annual AACD Smile Gallery Competition is a prestigious competition that highlights the dramatic effects of cosmetic dentistry at their finest. Norman Huefner, DMD exhibited outstanding skill in the Portrait category where he won his gold medal.

"I am honored to receive this award and am happy to carry on the AACD's tradition of excellence and changing people's lives through cosmetic dentistry," commented Norman Huefner, DMD.

Norman Huefner, DMD would like to acknowledge Dave Stohlman of MAC by MicroDental for his assistance in the award-winning entry. The creation of a dynamic smile requires the input of all aspects of cosmetic dentistry, from molding the appropriate tooth to affixing the correct veneer.

The Annual AACD Smile Gallery Competition awards winners in a variety of categories including:

Designer Showcase: In this category, multiple restorations are used to improve a patient's smile. Procedures in this category include: Indirect Restoration, Direct Restorations and Missing Anterior Tooth Restorations - Bridge or Implant.
Signature Showcase: In this category, the restoration(s) intend to mimic nature. Procedures in this category include: Single Unit Anterior or Posterior Esthetics - Crowns, Onlays, Bridges, Implants and Special Effects.
Portrait Showcase: In this category competitors are invited to submit examples of portrait-style photographs that they themselves have taken of their patients.
Additional Awards: "Best of Show" and the People's Choice Award are presented to those cases that particularly stand out as premier casework in cosmetic dentistry.
